During Queen Anne’s War<\/a>, in response to the Wabanaki Confederacy<\/a> of Acadia<\/a> military campaign against the New England frontier<\/a> and the Canadian<\/a> Raid on Deerfield<\/a>, Massachusetts, Benjamin Church<\/a> led the Raid on Pisiquid (1704) and burned the village to the ground. In the Raid on Pisiquid, Church burned 40 houses along with out-buildings, crops and cattle. New Minas borders the town of Kentville<\/a> to the west and the unincorporated community of Greenwich<\/a> to the east. The town of Wolfville<\/a> is further east on the other side of Greenwich. New Minas is approximately 100 km northwest of Halifax<\/a>. The village is located along the south bank of the Cornwallis River<\/a> occupying the lower slopes of the South Mountain<\/a>.
